Match Report: SVOB vs Nancledra Hillbillies (H) – Sunday 9th July
In the absence of senior Seaview super scribe Steve Tribe junior reporter Slider Stainer attempts to cobble something together.
July 9th: First of season’s regular matches against Nancledra Hillbillies

SVOB vs Nancledra Hillbillies at Channel 4
After early morning rain showers in overcast conditions and with a damp outfield but a brisk drying wind, the Hillbillies won the toss and chose to bat.
The Seaview took the field with 10 men after the late withdrawal of former Tosser, P.Maxted and the loan of L.L Richardson to the opposition.
Early efforts failed to produce any wickets and a run rate of 5 an over until Liam L Chinn was brought on at the pavilion end and got the much needed break-through with a very athletic caught and bowled.
Liam went on to take 4 wickets in all, producing two catches out deep for Dickon and Cake and a second impressive caught and bowled; finishing with figures of 4 for 12 off 7, and skipper Damo awarding him Man-of-the-match.

The other wickets went to Boom Boom Cartlidge – 2 for 8 off 6: N.Oliver – 2 for 8 off 3 and M.Stainer- 2 for 36 off 7.
Other notable moments were a caught behind by A.Oliver (wk) to dismiss Hillbilly captain Tim Poole for top score of 24. Bobby bowled as usual with accuracy and determination finishing 0 for 14 off 7.
All out at Tea, the Hillbillies had posted 87 off 30.3 overs.
Seaview commenced their reply with Dickon and the late recruitment of Stevens Senior as the opening pair, with Alan O at number three, ably supported by P.Stevens and M.Stevens at four and five.
After surviving a missed run-out by Luke, Alan made 13 including two fours. Dickon made 46 not out, finishing the innings with a characteristic boundary; bringing up 89 off 22.2 overs.
So it’s back to the nets for me. See you all Friday.
