…. march on after a draw at St Ives yesterday, although there is an outside chance we may have lost if the weather hadn’t intervened.
They put out a very strong team, packed with league players, the captain of Leedstown making a ‘guest’ appearance & a former Hampshire 2nd XI player, so we were worried but not surprised when they got 50 from the first 5 overs. Disciplined bowling & brilliant catching (Tribey & Damian in particular) kept them to a gettable 164-6 – welcome back to Nick, who bowled his full 6 overs & took a wicket.
Losing 2 wickets in the first over didn’t help the run chase, but a dogged 22 from Bobby & big-hitting from Damian & Dickon kept us in the game until, after a flurry of wickets, Nick & Luke held out for the rain.
Champagne moments – the Leedstown captain realising that bowling really fast to Damian once he is set is not a good idea (30 off his 3 overs) & a massive 6 from Dickon going through the pavilion window (closed).
No game this week.
